Other prominent plotlines include Congressional investigations into whether Bartlet committed electoral fraud by concealing his MS,  a death threat against C.J. and the ensuing relationship she develops with a Secret Service agent assigned to her, the Qumari defense minister Abdul Shareef plotting terrorist attacks against the US, and a troubling meeting between Toby and the President that leaves Bartlet with a bout of insomnia in &quot;Night Five.&quot; The season finale,  "Posse Comitatus&quot; closes several of these storylines as Bartlet meets his opponent in the elections and reaffirms his commitment to beat him. The episode ends with the president finally deciding to order Shareef's assassination (a legally questionable act) and C.J.&#39;s agent's murder, just after the man threatening C.J. was caught. From a critical perspective, series creator Aaron Sorkin acknowledged in October 2002 that the terrorism-related plots designed to keep the series relevant after the real-life 9/11 attacks were awkward at times, saying &amp;quot;from week to week, you felt like you were writing the show handcuffed, a little bit. I didn&amp;#39;t know how to write it anymore. It was a constant search for what I wasn&#39;t doing that used to make the show work. [...] Maybe there was a way to make it work; there probably was.
